Police Assist Woman in Unexpected Childbirth

Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City recently provided assistance in two emergency situations. First, two officers from the Banking and Industrial Police (PBI) assisted a woman in labor at her home in the Álvaro Obregón borough. Given the imminence of the birth, and while waiting for an ambulance, the officers helped with the delivery and received the newborn.

While on routine duty in the Primera Victoria neighborhood, the officers received an emergency call about an unexpected birth. Upon arrival, they found a 30-year-old woman about to give birth. After providing the necessary first aid, the officers assisted in the delivery and took care of the baby until the arrival of a Civil Protection ambulance, which transported both women to a hospital.

In another incident, in the Tránsito neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc borough, SSC officers requested emergency services to attend to several people injured after being hit by a car at a couple of semi-permanent stands. The accident occurred at the intersection of San Antonio Abad and Gutiérrez Nájera streets, where three injuries were reported.

ERUM paramedics assisted two men aged 64 and 65, as well as a 78-year-old woman, who had various injuries. Fortunately, it was determined that they did not require transport to a hospital. The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old woman, explained that she lost control while making a turn, crashing into the food stands, and remained on the scene awaiting her insurance adjuster.
